ETHIBOND® EXCEL™ Suture

ETHIBOND EXCEL Polyester Suture is a non-absorbable, sterile surgical suture composed of Poly (ethylene terephthalate). It is braided for optimal handling and dyed green for good visibility in the surgical field.

ENDOSUTURE ENDO-HOLDER™ Cannula

The ENDOSUTURE ENDO-HOLDER Cannula is a one-piece, re-useable, stainless steel (non-sterile) instrument intended for sterilization before surgical use. It facilitates knot-tying and pushing knots, with ETHIBOND EXCEL Polyester Suture, which may be configured in three types: ENDOLOOP® Ligature, pre-tied knot with needle, and ENDONEEDLE®.

Each configuration is pre-threaded to a plastic slide and passer. The slide, on the distal end of the suture strand, acts as the handle when inserted into the ENDO-HOLDER Cannula. The passer, on the proximal end, acts as the knot pusher when inserted. The ENDO-HOLDER Cannula is designed for use with a 5mm or larger trocar with reducer cap.

ETHIBOND EXCEL Suture is prepared from fibers of high molecular weight, long-chain, linear polyesters – recurrent aromatic rings are an integral component. The suture is coated with polybutilate or poly {oxy-1, 4 butanediyloxy (1, 6-dioxo-1, 6 hexanediyl)}. The highly adherent coating is made of a compound that is relatively non-reactive and non-absorbable. It acts as a lubricant to mechanically improve the physical properties of the uncoated suture, easing passage through tissues and providing better handling qualities (as compared to the braided, uncoated fibers).

Procedure applications:

Laparoscopic procedures where extracorporeal knots are pushed intracorporeally. For use with 5mm trocars or larger with reducer cap.
