ENDOKNOT Suture

This line of sutures includes the ETHIBOND® Extra Polyester Suture, the Coated VICRYL® (polyglactin 9110) Suture, and the PDS® II (polydioxanone) Monofilament Suture.

All are:

  • Synthetic – materials are non-antigenic, non-pyrogenic, and elicit only a mild tissue reaction during absorption
  • Absorbable – sutures are appropriate for laparoscopic procedures

Description & Specs
ETHIBOND EXCEL Suture ST-3 needleST-3 needle

ETHIBOND® EXCEL™ Suture, ST-3 needle, 0, 42"

The ENDOKNOT Suture made with Coated VICRYL® (polyglactin 910) Suture consists of a plastic tube that is narrow on one end and scored on the other. A 42" suture is inserted into the tube, protrudes from the narrowed end, and is swaged to a surgical needle. The opposite end of the suture is fastened to the scored end of the tube. This scored end acts as the handle.

Coated VICRYL Suture ST-3 needle

Coated, VICRYL Suture, ST-3 needle, 0, 42"

Coated VICRYL (polyglactin 910) Suture is a synthetic absorbable sterile surgical suture composed of a copolymer made from 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide. The Coated VICRYL Suture is prepared by coating the suture material with a mixture of equal parts copolymer of glycolide and lactide (polyglactin 370), and calcium stearate. These have been found to be non-antigenic, non-pyrogenic, and elicit only a mild tissue reaction during absorption. The sutures are available dyed and undyed (natural).

PDS II Suture ST-3 needle

PDS® II Suture, ST-3 needle, 0, 42"

The ENDOKNOT Suture made with PDSII (polydioxanone) Monofilament Synthetic Absorbable Suture consists of a plastic tube that is narrowed on one end and scored on the other. A 42" suture is inserted into the tube, protrudes from the narrowed end, and is swaged to a surgical needle. The opposite end of the suture is fastened to the second end of the tube. The scored end acts as the handle and is marked with a colored tape.

PDSII (polydioxanone) Monofilament Synthetic Absorbable Suture is prepared from the polyester, poly (p-dioxanone). The empirical molecular formula of the polymer is (C4H6O3)x. Polydioxanone polymer has been found to be non-antigenic, non-pyrogenic and elicits only a minor tissue reaction during absorption. PDSII Sutures are U.S.P except for diameter.
